Natalie Grant Positive News Following Thyroid Surgery
Grammy-nominated, Natalie Grant has received positive news following thyroid surgery on October 10th.
Grant underwent surgery a week ago to remove half of her thyroid gland after two tumors were found in an ultrasound. Pathology report revealed two nodules in the right lobe of had papillary thyroid cancer. It also showed the cancer was completely encapsulated inside the nodules and it hadn't traveled any further into any surrounding tissue or lymph nodes.
Dr. James Netterville performed her surgery and said that the removal of the right side of her thyroid, all traces of cancer were removed and further treatment will be necessary. Laryngeal nerve monitoring was used, and during the procedure, electric stimulation was used on the vocal chords and nerves that control the upper range of the voice. Netterville reported that everything is functioning as it should and there was no long-term vocal chord damage caused by the surgery. Therefore, after several weeks of vocal rest and therapy, Grant would see a full recovery.
Grant stated “My heart is overflowing with gratitude in every way. I’m forever grateful to Dr. Netterville and the entire medical team at Vanderbilt for the world-class care I received. I am humbled by the outpouring of support from around the world, which has strengthened my faith in more ways than I can express. God is so good. He was good before surgery, and He is good after. His goodness was never dependent on my outcome. I’m just grateful I’ll have many more years to sing about Him.”
