Gay Girl, Good God: The Story of Who I Was, and Who God Has Always Been
American poet, writer, speaker and hip-hop artist, Jackie Hill Perry is set to release her debut book titled, "Gay Girl, Good God," expected on September 3, 2018.
In an interview from The Gospel Coalition for Women with Mary Wiley, Perry spoke about her inspiration behind the book and who she hopes to reach through the book. Perry used her experience of her former lesbian lifestyle to hopefully bring an understanding to persons who are friends with or have relatives that are in the LGBTQ community. Perry also wrote the book to offer advice and hope to Christians who may be struggling with same-sex attraction and others who have come to accept the same-sex attraction lifestyle.
Also, Perry shares her testimony and the experiences before turning to Christ, "coming out" to her mother, and becoming a believer. Perry compares becoming a Christian to says "I think becoming a Christian is becoming a baby learning how to walk so you just sort of you're trying to figure out how not to give into the flesh." She continues to say that even though being a believer is full of difficulties, trials, and temptations, "I think on this side because I have the holy spirit and because God has done something in my heart to transform it I have such a greater affection for him that even though it's hard it's better. I would rather have difficulty
in Christ, in difficulty and sin, any day because I know ultimately
this stuff is so temporary."
